Uterine Fibroids
Injections to stop period is a temporary solution, though not one to be dismissed. Ideally, these injections are administered to women suffering from frequent bleeding to increase their hematocrit and aid recovery prior to the surgical excision of fibroids. Alternatively, they are administered to “buy” some time, if the woman is approaching menopause in order to avoid a surgical procedure in general.
There is no scientific way to predict whether a woman is going to develop fibroids, nor their number or size.
This is an operation to remove the entire uterus, as well as the fallopian tubes & ovaries, and its quite common, in case of endometrial (uturine) cancer.
Hysteroscopy (from the Greek word “ύστερον”= uterus and endoscopy) is the detailed examination of the uterus (or endometrial cavity).
In 2009, Dr. G. Hilaris and his team performed the first ever robot-assisted surgical staging in Greece, for endometrial cancer in a 39-year-old patient.
