Usually there is no pain at all. There might be a mild cramp-like pain/discomfort in the lower abdomen. Following cervical conization, the patient may experience pain in the lower abdomen which is alleviated with painkillers and goes away within 24-48 hours.
Since this is a virus causing these precancerous lesions (i.e. dysplasia), it is always likely that the body may get infected again. What may change over time is the patient’s immunological response to the new infection, gradually reducing the duration that the virus remains in the body, and its potential to cause a new dysplasia.
